In an effort to keep the beauty of my island home and all that is wonderful in my world in mind as the ugliness of life and death intrudes, I’m posting more photos today and saying little.
My amazing son, Sam
A big, bird-poop spattered tortoise enjoying the attention (?) of my family.
A sooty tern, up close and personal with a potential for poop spattering
My lovely family on a lovely beach on Bird Island
From my veranda at home, the Ent that lives at the bottom of my garden pointing at the hidded treasure on the hill opposite. (One day I’ll follow his finger and dig it up.)
Beautiful pictures. Hang in there!
That turtle is amazing ! Don’t telll me that you see one like that everyday, even in Seychelles !
In fact, we do see one every day — my son’s pet Giant Aldabra Tortoise, a sweet, calm reptile named Helmut.
He’s not that big yet, but he will be. With an odd fondess for oatmeal and cheese sandwiches, he’s growing fast.
Helmut will be getting a companion soon, as Cj’s grandma is on the lookout for one for her. It’s a tradition here to grow up with your tortoise, although they are likely to outlive us. The one in the photo is almost 200 years old!
These are great pictures Sandra! Is this a Twin Otter that took you to Bird Island? I remember our landings with them on Denis Island and the fire engine being a cross between a lawn mower and a small tractor! HA!!!
I’d love to go to Bird…never been (yet) but also Aldabrah is in my dreams…
fun!
Have a Sunday

A picture is worth a thousand words, they say, so you have a very respectable blog entry, here 🙂
Love the turtle 🙂
